Northern Michigan's Future

As you enjoy this beautiful Michigan summer, consider the words of a few local members of The Great Lakes Business Network. The GLBN collectively believes that the risks of the Canadian owned Enbridge Line 5 pipeline, crossing the Straits of Mackinac, far outweigh the few benefits

R.D. Musser III, President Grand Hotel: " We simply cannot sit by to wait for something to go terribly wrong before we act to protect one of our state’s most valuable assets at its most vulnerable point."

Bob Sutherland, President Cherry Republic: "….we must expect our public officials to do the work we elected them to do…their No. 1 job is to protect Michigan's invaluable resources."

Larry Bell, CEO Bell's Brewery: " We take all the risk for very little reward."

Chris Shepler, Shepler's Mackinac Island Ferry: " If there's a spill I'm done. Our marina is done. Our 225 employees are done." "We have a fiduciary responsibility to future generations."

Clearly, many proactive local businesses recognize the unacceptable threat the 65-year-old pipeline poses to Michigan's waters, economy, residents and their properties.

We all must act proactively NOW to protect Northern Michigan's future. Demand Attorney General Schuette decommission Line 5 immediately.
